Moonlight Fans - A Moonlight, Twilight, True Blood and Dollhouse Fansite

Moonlight Fans Seeking Help
Written by Patrick
Sunday, 28 December 2008

In an effort to bring Moonlight Fans to a new level, we are seeking a few columnists to cover each show that is a focal point of the show, like Dollhouse, True Blood, Twilight, etc.

If interested, send me a PM with the list of things you would be able to bring to the site, and also why you would like to do so.

We believe this is the best move in order to keep Moonlight Fans a quality news source for the television and entertainment industry.

Smallville Fall Finale on TONIGHT
Written by Patrick
Thursday, 20 November 2008

Just a reminder that the fall finale of Smallville will air tonight at 8PM ET on the CW Television Network, and it's the last new episode we will see of Smallville of 2008.

As I mentioned previously, this episode is probably an episode that I have been looking forward to  more than any other episode of any other show this season so PLEASE watch it, I promise you won't be disappointed. Even if you don't follow the show like I do, it will pack enough action, romance, adventure and heart to make it worth anyone's while.

8PM. CW. Be there.

Two New Sections Added - Gallery and Syndicated News
Written by Patrick
Thursday, 20 November 2008

If you look in the sub-menu beneath the "Home" button in the main menu, you'll notice two new tabs, "Gallery" and "Syndicated News."

These are both new additions to the site, which should further the site's functionality and accessibility from both ends. If you recall, up until this point we've had a complex system for sharing images. There would be a section of the Gallery where smaller versions of the images would be displayed, and then another version of the site with zip folders for high resolution versions of the images. With Moonlight Fans' new format to cover multiple shows, that wouldn't be as efficient and would be too time consuming to make it worthwhile.

So, I set up a Gallery component to the site, which allows me to give you rights to view certain sizes of the images based on your membership, and also is a much more organized way of hosting the images and keeping them all in one place. If you view it now you'll see that it has only Dollhouse photos, but Mooonlight and Twilight and True Blood photos will be up soon. This new Gallery component should be much more accessible and easier to use than the old makeshift gallery system.

The second is the Syndicated News section. Being only one person, there's no way I could possibly bring you all the daily news of the television industry. So, I set up the syndicated news feed to automatically display the news from the most reputable sources and the sources I trust must (TV Guide, Nice Girls TV, io9, and Entertainment Weekly's Ausiello Files), so that no matter what you can find the most up to the minute news on MoonlightFans.com.

Obviously, since these are both brand new features of the site, we will have to iron out small kinks as we go, but I"ve been testing them for a while now and they're extremely functional.

Look for more new features and improvements to exsisting ones soon!

Fringe: Is it Really Even that Good?
Written by Patrick
Tuesday, 18 November 2008

I know that the series from FOX has been getting tons of hype and attention, but am I the only one that doesn't quite "get it" yet?

Everyone and their mothers' have heard of this show, and that's in part to a brilliant advertising campaign by FOX (Hey, you, network with the ugly green logo... take notes) with online banner ads, radio spots and viral marketing, but honestly I think that this show's hype exceeds its quality.

Maybe its a subconscious thing, that people here all this buzz about a show and assume that it's of quality if it's got that kind of popularity, but what I've seen of the show so far I've found to be boring, not compelling in the least bit, and also with out a spark of comic relief.

I'm not going to jump the gun and deem the show a failure, because it takes many shows several episodes or even a full season to find their footing and really take off, but I'm concerned that this will just be the next J.J. Abrams fixation, much like Lost and Alias, which start out with some strong first seasons full of suspense and quality storytelling, but fade from his attention as soon as a new project comes along.

I'll continue to try and watch with hopes that it gets better, but as of now I'm just not getting it.

Favorite TV and Movie Vampires List by TVGuide
Written by Patrick
Friday, 14 November 2008

Since this is something common between all three vampire entities covered here at Moonlight Fans (Moonlight, Twilight, True Blood), it's going on the homepage instead of in each individual show's section.

In honor of Twilight's fever reaching an evident all time high lately, TVGuide.com has assembled a list of the best vampires to ever grace the television or movie screen, as well as photos to accompany them.

On the list, of course are Moonlight's Mick, True Blood's Bill, and also all the classic vamps like Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Spike (but for some reason, no Angel?) and many more.

Take a look!

Smallville's Fall Finale: The Must See of the Season
Written by Patrick
Friday, 14 November 2008

Smallville was the show that first got me into the online fandom world, and it's been my favorite show through all its rough patches, and I've enjoyed it immensely no matter what. If you haven't heard already, this year it blasted into season eight and was reinvigorated by new showrunners, characters and storylines.

Season Eight of Smallville has been groundbreaking and epic, with not a single episode not worth watching over and over again, despite the departure of two of the show's biggest characters after last season's finale, Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) and Lana (Kristin Kreuk). The season also makes up for lost time in term's of Clark's development into Superman, and only nine episodes into the season already has many of the series' best episodes under its belt.

In next Thursday's fall finale, episode #8-10 "Bride," which will be the final episode of 2008 before a long winter hiatus, everything this season's been building to will culminate at one event: Chloe's wedding.

Not to spoil anyone, but just to tease, Brainiac takes complete and total control of Chloe's body, Clark's epic lover Lana Lang returns to Smallville just as sparks between him and Lois fly, Davis Bloome fully becomes Doomsday and crashes the wedding.

There's not a single other episode that I can think of that will be as exciting as this one, regardless of whether you're a Smallville fan or not. It should be filled with tons of action, humor, and many heartfelt and emotional scenes loaded with energy.

If you're interested, KryptonSite, the world's largest and best Smallville fansite has spoilers, image gallery, and trailer screen captures for the episode.

It may be a good idea to catch up on this season's episodes so far. Trust me, they're worth it.

  1. Odyssey
  2. Plastique
  3. Toxic
  4. Instinct
  5. Committed
  6. Prey
  7. Identity
  8. Bloodline

On a side note, not to try and over sell anything here, but if you're a fan of the epic love stories like Mick and Beth, than you NEED to watch "Committed". Take my word for it, by the end of the episode you'll understand why.

ABC Plans Major Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice Crossover
Written by Patrick
Friday, 07 November 2008

TVGuide first broke the news that later this season, there will be a two-sided crossover between Grey's Anatomy and it's spin-off Private Practice, now in it's sophomore season.

Private Practice took the character of Dr. Addison Montgomery from Grey's Anatomy and followed her to Los Angeles to pursue a new life at the Oceanside Wellness Center.

During this big crossover event, the specific episode amount and finalized set of characters involved both unconfirmed, Addison will return to Seattle Grace, and some characters from Grey's will make their way to Los Angeles.

Scratch That - WB Pulls the Plug on The Graysons
Written by Patrick
Friday, 07 November 2008

Previously we reported that a Smallville companion series revolving around the character of Robin from the Batman world was being developed for the CW, but KryptonSite.com broke the news that the project will cease development, before a script was ever completed.

The reason for this is that apparently, the series does not align with the strategy for the current Batman franchise.

Warner Brothers' Jeff Rubinov, who made this decision, that several current replacement projects are being worked on.

While this is disheartening news to those who were looking forward to the series, it does also better the chances of seeing a Smallville Season 9, and also a different type of Smallville companion or spin-off that could even be better.

This is not the first time this has happened, either. A series about The Flash was rumored and apparently even pitched to the network after his appearance on Smallville in season four, and a pilot for the CW network based on the character of Aquaman was made but ultimately passed on, and last year there were also rumors of a Supergirl spin-off, following her story arc on Smallville.

Maybe one of these days, we'll finally get it right.

It's been almost two years since the presence of Jack Bauer has graced our screens, because of the writers strike last year.

So, before launching season seven of the critically acclaimed series, FOX will air a two-hour TV Movie that will serve as a prequel.

Heroes in Grave Danger
Written by Patrick
Tuesday, 04 November 2008

NBC's Heroes was the most buzzed about show when it first premiered back in Fall of 2006, with its pilot gaining critical attention and early fan devotion after being leaked early. However, now in its third season, the show is struggling to keep viewers and please the network, two things which do not bode well for any show's future.

In the past week, two executives who have worked on the show since day one were fired, leaving series creator Tim Kring empty handed to bring the show back to its prior glory. Too many new characters that not many fans like, confusing storylines and more questions being raised with no answers given are some of the problems the show is having.

It happens more than it should, a quality show with a groundbreaking premise derails and becomes a shadow of its former self. While it may not be too late for Heroes, its future is looking pretty grim.
